Let’s call a spade a spade: VEGAN LEATHER does not exist. It’s NOT LEATHER!
Leather comes from animals! What is marketed as a “vegan alternative” is usually a mixture of plastic, plant fibres and synthetic resin. Sustainable? Many of these materials are not biodegradable, but pollute the environment with microplastics. And the quality? Genuine leather goods last for decades, while so-called “vegan leather” often tears or crumbles after a few months.
So anyone who thinks they are doing the environment a favour by avoiding leather should ask themselves: Is a copy, usually made of plastic, really the better choice? The advertizing loves such buzzwords – consumers are too easily deceived. In the end, it’s just one thing: a copy.
If you are looking for alternatives, you should decide for other natural products.
Because vegan leather does not exist! Neither does vegan meat!
